Gear Review: BOB Revolution Pro Running Stroller
As far as new parents go, we were serious procrastinators when it came to purchasing a baby running stroller. “We’ll just carry her”, we thought, and we requested a Ergo Baby from our relatives when Kinley was born (it’s amazing!). Although we had heard great things about running strollers, it just didn’t suit our minimalist lifestyle – too expensive, and too HUGE! We finally caved after getting settled in Lexington and realizing that if we wanted Kinley along for our runs, we couldn’t bring her in a child pack.
With a little research and scouring Craigslist, I found an incredible deal on a used BOB Revolution Pro stroller for $300 on the Louisville Craigslist. Rewind to July: prior to leaving Tacoma, we were thrilled to sell our Yakima bike rack for an extra $300 cash to have on hand for our move and Kinley’s birth. Now, just 3 months later we were able to put that cash to good use! Included in the price was the infant seat adapter, the handle bar console, and the kids snack tray – all in all, a value of at least $650! Despite the fact that it was a 2014 model, it is practically unused. I doubt it was used more than 10 times – or maybe these strollers are just bullet proof. The woman I bought it from (who upgraded to a double with child #2) claimed to have only stored it indoors, but the tires still had their little “new tire strings” on them and the color appeared brand new. Sweet!
Features we like:
- Option for locked or swivel front wheel
- Hand break for hills
- Versatile for infant seat attachment OR child seat straps
- Decently light-weight for a running stroller, around 27lb
- Pneumatic mountain bike- like wheels for a smooth ride on variable terrain
- Collapses to a decent size for traveling
- It’s green ☺
Features we don’t like:
- difficult to collapse – apparently this is a common problem
In all honesty, we didn’t spend a lot of time researching other brands of strollers because we had heard so many amazing things about the BOB. The tricky part was just deciding between all the models! We have found the Revolution Pro to fit our needs exactly. What has been especially surprising is how giddy with excitement we both are over this new piece of gear – almost like we just splurged on new skis or running shoes! Things change, I guess.
Ultimately, it’s up to you and your needs. But for us, this was exactly what we needed. With the number of these strollers floating around, a second-hand one was the way to go. And as much as we love it, finding it at such a deal definitely increased our stoke!

Does it have a way to add weight for more rolling resistance…27 pounds curb weight seems pretty tame for you two hard core marathon trainers. You could deploy a parachute or maybe if Steve holds Kinley and you push both of them uphill on a progressively steeper incline??? That sounds a bit more like your type of workout, my favorite, along with Jenny G. and Carol M., Crazy fitness lady. I think I’ll stick to dodging the sharks on my daily swim.
haha! Jay I still think your daily workout is harder than ours. Plus the consequences are far worse if it goes poorly (drowning, jelly fish stings, becoming shark food, etc.) Thanks for reading! Enjoy the holidays!
